An inspirational sports quote Posted November 3rd 2015 |
I enjoy a good game of basketball, but I usually do not quote athletes. However, Michael Jordan is one of the all time great basketball players. Additionally, this particular quote from Michael Jordan is quite wise and inspirational, even for early childhood educators. Michael Jordan once said, "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." He should know, because he won plenty of both during his time as a basketball player.

| "We" is greater than "me" when it comes to great success. Unity is the key to an extraordinary team, because it focuses in on the member's strengths rather than their weaknesses. Teamwork is more effective because members hold each other accountable to high standards, rather than individuals being responsible for their own results. If I can instill in the children how important teamwork is, it would not only positively affect their comfortability with sharing their ideas and thoughts with their peers, but also allow them to gain new knowledge on how to approach different activities in class. |

| This is a wonderful quote that can inspire many educators and children. Children thrive in an inclusive and positive environment that enriches intelligence and encourages teamwork. This brings out the creativity and talent that is within every student and it is up to an educator to unlock the possibilities that every child holds. They are all capable of great things, but the role of an educator and an educational system is what builds the future of a child. Talent can be used with children by saying that all children have talent with academics and socialization. Any child can have talent in anything, as long as they put their all into it and do not let anyone tell them otherwise. Look at Michael Jordan, he did not make his high school basketball team at first but that did not stop him. He worked on his basketball skills and made the team the following years, played college ball, and is one of he best basketball players in history, thus far. Talent can come from anyone but teamwork wins championships. This can relate to children showing that everyone needs help to get to the top. Do not be afraid to ask questions, ask for help from others. This will help children get intelligence in the future. Teamwork is the key to success. |

| I have never heard about this quote, but I do agree with it. Teaching children about teamwork helps them in the future because in most jobs people have to work together to accomplish the companies main goal. By incorporating teamwork at a young age shows them the value of having an open mind and shows them to listen to others opinions. |

| I love this quote and believe that i supports what education is all about. A child cannot learn without a teacher, and a teacher cannot teach without a student. A school cannot be run without its leaders, and so on and so forth. It truly takes a team of people to reach overall goals. To succeed at something you can't work at it alone. One can reach success and their goals more efficiently and most likely better when a team in involved. I support Michael Jordan's quote and definitely think that it ties into child development and our education system. |

| I think with this quote, we can enhance the lives of children through many different techniques that accommodate their learning styles. It is important to work with students and their parents to better assist them in their learning in and outside of the school environment. Working as a team in that aspect with parents and their caregivers would be extremely helpful. |

| Children need a freedom to explore and search what their interests are. As a future educator I will keep in mind that there are different kind of students from different background and culture, and they each need the motivation and help to discover their talents. I will allow all of them to try to discover what interests them, is it math, science, sports whatever it might be. also allowing them to express their thought with each other and to be able to share it with class. I truly believe in motivation and praise with children in order to explore their talents or to master a talent they already have. Their social emotional and psychological development will be positive if they have a teacher who motivates and encourages them to reach their true potential. That is exactly what I will love to do as a future educator. |

| I think teaching children teamwork, talent, and intelligence can enrich their social and cognitive development. Teamwork teach children to work together and teach them about empathy. Learning to help each other will help children learn about each other cultures and upbringing. Also making friends from different backgrounds to help them enrich their cognitive development their future. Teaching student to have intelligence and talent also goes hand and hand with teamwork because students should be able to think for themselves and make decisions with the help of a teacher(s). Intelligence will help them understand be successful in the future and talent will help them socialized with people and help them to become non-judgemental. |

| Working with children is no easy task. There is a multitude of personalities that reflect different social and cognitive levels that contribute to a diverse environment. These differences, however, allow for students to interact and learn from each other. As a future educator, I can encourage others to perform at their best capacity using not only their talents, but information they've learned from more competent individuals. There are so many skills incorporated in "success", however one may define it. Being successful is much more than receiving a good grade, like a student may perceive. I would be able to describe to the students that growing in different areas through means of working with others demonstrates a greater understanding of the subject at hand and this ultimately defines success. |

| When it comes to success, I believe working together holds a greater value than sheer talent of an individual. Developing good relations between members of the school will ultimately benefit the group because they will be empowering each other by attaining results that alone might not be possible to gain. I can create this type of environment by making sure the children are working together sharing their information and ideas to reach to their common goal. |

| I think talent, intellegent, and teamwork should be combine in group settings cause every team members are working together to achieve the same goal. Rather its a game or championship, its still essential to have a combination of all three characteristics: talent, intellegent and teamwork. |

A teacher works with their students to help them succeed in learning, yet I think a teacher can find ways for the students to work together to help one another succeed. Who else can best understand students than their peers? Teachers should find effective ways to incorporate teamwork in an effective and balanced way to help children learn from one another. These children can take this teamwork skills and apply them throughout their lives. |

| I completely agree with this quote and understand where he is coming from. In high school I was one of the captains of our track team and in track everyone counted especially when it came to winning. When it comes to applying this quote to a successful career with children you have to be knowledgeable about that child and what message you are trying to get through to them. Teamwork is especially essential because other people may have a different approach to teaching or helping the child. Talent is also important because a child may be talented at one thing that may help them with learning or helping others learn. Teamwork,intelligence and talent are all essential characteristics to not only win championships but to be successful in life. |

| I think this quote is accurate and profound. I find it refreshing that an athlete of his stature and acclaim would admit the importance of teamwork and intelligence in a successful career. Teamwork is vital in all professions. It is imperative that educators teach and model teamwork and its benefits to children at a young age and throughout their school years. There are many opportunities to use teamwork in the classroom setting. There should be group work or pair learning activities built into the curriculum and used regularly across all subjects. This provides the students a chance to become comfortable with sharing their ideas and thoughts with their peers. It also teaches that there are many different ways to look at and solve an issue, task, or problem. Understanding the importance of teamwork and utilizing it in daily assignments will help children as they continue through higher education and in their careers. |

| I completely agree with this quote from Michael Jordan, specifically the part about teamwork. I like to implement teamwork and team building activities with the children I work with whenever I can. When children work together to solve problems, they are learning from one another. Promoting and incorporating group work and team work allows the children to gain new knowledge, and with more knowledge, they can become better learners. |

| I agree with Michael Jordan's quote, "Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships" because I believe that an individual can be talented and may not apply themselves. On the other hand, someone may lack talent but determination and drive can lead them to gain intelligence. Likewise, in a classroom setting students can become successful with the help of their peers and by applying themselves. |

| This quote said by Michael Jordan can be very influential to many people especially teachers because their students in a classroom are a team. Of course children learn differently and learn at different paces but it's important to help all children succeed together as well as individually. Children can work together to learn and teach each other when the curriculum starts to get a bit more difficult. It's important to work in groups because some children can learn better when peers explain to them the information and children explaining are retaining the information. Children who work together are also learning social skills while learning the curriculum. When children work together they are succeeding in the classroom in multiple areas of development. |

| I don’t really follow basketball, but I enjoy watching when I have time. Michael Jordan was an immersive basketball player he must know what he is talking about. His quote "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships" tells me that he knows how much work it takes to be winner. Talent plays a significant role in success. Some people are very talented and success comes easy to them. I am definitely not one of those people. I know I am smart but I know I have to work double and spend double time doing homework and studying for test than other people. I have always said I know I am not the smartest, but I am will work the hardest. This motto has helped me get through school |

| I was bullied. I was mostly when I was around 12 year old. During this time I went thought a growth spurt. Kids felt the need to remind me that I was big. I felt bad but I was mostly annoyed. I knew I was big I did not need any reminders.
Growing up I witness one of my closest friends get bullied because he was gay. Kids and also adults were awful to him his whole life. Aside from being my friend he was my neighbor and we were the same age. We would walk to school together every day. We always had a lot of fun playing kids games and joking around. We never talked about hem being gay or being bullied. I think we both knew that we were kids and there was nothing we could do but to keep each other company. I remember one time. I was late for school so he thought I was not going to go to school that day. When I got to school it was break time and I was looking for him. I found him crying hiding from the other kids. When he saw me he wiped his tears and said “I thought you were not coming today let’s go play”. To this date we are still great friends and every time we see each other we have a lot of fun.

| I love this quote from Michael Jordon. I’ve been on a team before and I believe it really does take teamwork and intelligence to win championships. It is not always about talents. Not everyone has the same talents and that goes for children too. There are independent children that like to work alone, but even they have to learn how to be social and work with others to finish certain tasks and group works. I like working in groups or teams so therefore the children I help support in language and literacy are divided in groups too. Sometimes I would team them up despite their different knowledge and make them help one another to reach the goal that they are supposed to be at, together. Through this process, they always end up having fun and worked pretty well together. And it is only when they work together, and I as the adult, see that they are using teamwork strategies themselves to finish the assignment together. To me, that is intelligence building in them without them noticing it. |

The quote relates to the idea of long term goals and team work. Without a higher goal to direct your actions you are left to re define purpose after every event, successful or not. An individual may succeed for a time on their own but will tire before they attain their goals. The group can work together and re energize each other. This is also true of youth education. We can get a child to pass a spelling, math, history, or science test. If we don't set them up to be ready for the next level and new teacher they will fight through all the same problems all over again. Education and achievement must be about each individual child and their growth more than a statistical number of some national standard. |
